The Summer Games was officially opened  yesterday August 5 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, until  August 21, this is the first time that the Games's hosted in South America. Let's take a look at some  facts about the modern Olympics.

1:  The first Summer Olympics during the winter :  This Olympics marks the first time the Summer Games are hosted during the winter season. Because winter in Brazil lasts from June to the end of August.


2: Women made their Olympic debut  during the 1900 Sumer Games in France in golf and tennis events.

3:  The first Photo finish used the first time in The 1912 Stockholm Games
4: The 1908 Olympic Games in London hosted the first time athletes with sportswear and paraded behind their country’s flag during the opening ceremony. 
5 : The International Olympic Committee during the 1968 Games in Mexico, conducted its first doping tests on event winners for narcotics and stimulants.
6: 10: The 1908 London Summer Olympics hosted  skating at the Summer Games , a sport typically thought to be a winter event.
7: The  american James Connolly became the first modern Olympic champion after winning the triple jump On April 6, 1896 .
